
Material Range Across the Full Shop
JD Machine machines and fabricates precision components in a wide range of metals, engineering plastics, and composites for aerospace, defense, space exploration, drones and UAV, medical, energy, mining, and commercial customers. The range isn't a specialty list. It's the working inventory of a shop that runs medium-to-high complexity production across regulated industries, from free-machining aluminum to work-hardening nickel alloys.
Material callouts, grades, and preferred or required sources are reviewed during quoting. Non-standard materials are reviewed the same way. If the print calls for it, the conversation starts at the Get a Quote form.
Metals
Aluminum and Magnesium
Lightweight alloys for aerospace, space exploration, drones and UAV, and commercial components where strength-to-weight drives the design. Fast-cutting, production-friendly, and a staple across the 4- and 5-axis cells.
Carbon and Stainless Steels
Structural strength, hardness, and corrosion resistance for defense, energy, mining, and commercial applications. Carbon and stainless grades run across machining, turning, and sheet metal fabrication.
Titanium
High strength-to-weight and corrosion resistance for aerospace and medical programs. Machined on 4- and 5-axis equipment to the same ±0.001″ to 0.005″ tolerance range as the rest of the milling work.
Inconel and High-Temperature Alloys
Nickel-based and high-temperature alloys that hold their properties where other metals give up: turbine sections, energy applications, space exploration hardware. Difficult material, familiar work.
Tungsten
Exceptional density and hardness for specialized defense and energy components, running through the CNC turning capability.
Brass, Copper, and Bronze
Machined for electrical conductivity, thermal transfer, and wear applications across commercial and energy programs.
Engineering Plastics and Composites
Hard plastics, including nylon and PTFE, run on the same CNC equipment as the metal work, for components where weight, insulation, or chemical resistance drives the design. Composites are machined for aerospace and space applications where the print calls for them. Plastics and composites carry the same traceability and inspection discipline as the metals. The material changes; the part record doesn't.

Matching Material to Process
Every material behaves differently under the tool. Process selection happens during quoting, matched to the material, the geometry, and the tolerance band.

4- and 5-axis machining in steel, titanium, aluminum, Inconel, composites, and hard plastics, with tolerances from ±0.001″ to 0.005″.

Material certifications and lot traceability are managed through the same AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 registered quality system that governs the rest of the shop. Certs are verified at receipt, traceability follows the part through production, and the documentation ships with the job. For the regulated programs JD Machine serves, material provenance is part of the deliverable, not an add-on.
