AS9100D Certified Machine Shop for Aerospace, Space and Defense Programs
Third-party registered to AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 through Amtivo. What the registration covers, how it is audited, and what it looks like on the floor.
What AS9100D Adds on Top of ISO 9001
AS9100 is the aviation, space and defense industry's quality management standard, published by the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) and built directly on ISO 9001:2015. Every ISO 9001 requirement is in it. Revision D then adds the controls that matter when a part is going into an aircraft, a launch vehicle or a weapons system: product safety, prevention of counterfeit parts, configuration management, operational risk management, control of critical items and key characteristics, and awareness of ethical behaviour and product conformity across the workforce.
For a procurement or supplier-quality reader, the practical difference is this: an ISO 9001 shop has a documented quality system. An AS9100D shop has that system plus the aerospace-specific disciplines an OEM or prime contractor's supplier qualification checklist is actually looking for, verified by a third-party registrar rather than self-declared.
JD Machine's AS9100D Registration
The facts a supplier file needs, in one place. Certificates are issued on request within 24 hours in most cases.
Registrar
Amtivo, an accredited third-party certification body, formerly Quality Systems Registrars (QSR). JD Machine's AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 registrations are both held with Amtivo and can be confirmed against the registrar's database and the IAQG OASIS supplier database.
Scope of registration
Precision machining and fabrication of components and assemblies for the aviation, space and defense markets, including CNC milling, CNC turning, wire EDM, sheet metal fabrication, assembly and test. The certificate states the registered scope in full and is sent on request.
Current certificate
The certificate in force, with its number and dates, is issued on request for supplier files rather than published here, so what you file is the current document rather than whatever a web page last said.
Surveillance audits
Registered AS9100D sites are audited by the registrar between recertifications, and the results are recorded in the IAQG OASIS database where customers with access can review the registration and its audit history directly.
How AS9100D Shows Up in Production
AS9102 First Article Inspection
Every new part number, and every part after a change to design, process, tooling or source, gets a full first article inspection documented on AS9102 forms. Ballooned drawings, measured results against every characteristic, and material and special-process certifications travel with the FAI report.
PFMEA and Standard Work
Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis is run before a part reaches the machine. The high-risk steps it identifies become controls in the Standard Work Instructions the operator follows, so the risk review changes what happens at the spindle rather than sitting in a file.
Traceability
Material certifications, heat and lot numbers, operator, machine and inspection records are tied to each job through the ERP system and stay retrievable for the retention period the contract requires. A part can be traced from raw stock to shipment, and back.
Counterfeit-part control
AS9100D requires a plan to prevent counterfeit or suspect parts from entering the product. JD Machine sources material and purchased components from approved suppliers, requires certifications with each receipt, and quarantines anything that cannot be verified.
FOD program
Foreign Object Debris prevention runs across the facility: controlled tooling and consumables at the machine, clean-as-you-go standards, and inspection for debris before a part or assembly is packed. The 100,000 sq ft facility is temperature- and humidity-controlled, which also keeps the environment predictable for inspection.
Industries Served Under the AS9100D System
One quality management system covers every product line, so a customer in one industry benefits from the disciplines the others require.
Aerospace
Structural and system components for commercial and military aircraft programs, with AS9102 FAI and full traceability as standard.
AerospaceSpace Exploration
Launch vehicle and spacecraft hardware where tolerance control, cleanliness and configuration management are non-negotiable.
Space ExplorationDefense
Defense programs that require AS9100D alongside ITAR registration and CMMC Level 2 for controlled technical data.
Defense
One System, Four Credentials
AS9100D governs quality. It does not cover export control or cybersecurity, and the programs that require it usually require those too. JD Machine holds ITAR registration with the U.S. Department of State and CMMC Level 2 certification through a C3PAO assessment, registered in SPRS, so a prime contractor adding JD Machine to an approved supplier list does not find a gap between the quality credential and the rest of the qualification package.
All CertificationsRequest the Certificate and Scope Letter
The certificate in force, the scope of registration and a scope letter for your supplier file are available on request. Send the certificate type and the format your procurement system needs through the request form, and the documentation is returned within 24 hours in most cases. Because it comes from the registrar's current record rather than a page that has to be maintained, what you receive is what is in force on the day you ask.
Add an AS9100D Supplier Without the Gap
Request the certificate and scope letter for your supplier file, or send a print for a quote. Response within 24 hours in most cases.
(801) 782-4394AS9100D Questions Buyers Ask
What is the difference between AS9100 and ISO 9001?
AS9100 contains every requirement of ISO 9001:2015 and adds aerospace-specific ones: product safety, counterfeit-part prevention, configuration management, operational risk management, and control of critical items and key characteristics. A shop registered to AS9100D is by definition also meeting ISO 9001; the reverse is not true.
Is AS9100D the same as AS9100 Rev D?
Yes. AS9100D is the current revision of the standard, aligned to ISO 9001:2015. When a supplier says AS9100 Rev D, they mean the same registration.
How can I verify JD Machine's AS9100D registration?
Ask for the current certificate through the request form, then confirm it with the registrar, Amtivo, or through the IAQG OASIS database, which lists registered aerospace suppliers and their audit status. JD Machine also provides a scope letter for supplier files on request.
Does AS9100D cover ITAR or cybersecurity requirements?
No. AS9100D is a quality management standard. Export control is governed by ITAR registration with the U.S. Department of State, and defense cybersecurity by CMMC. JD Machine holds all three, so programs that require the full set can qualify one supplier rather than three.
Does JD Machine provide AS9102 first article inspection reports?
Yes. A full AS9102 FAI is completed for every new part number and after any change that affects form, fit or function, and the report ships with the first delivery. FAI reports and PPAP packages are part of the standard documentation set, not an extra.
