JD Machine started our lean journey in 1997. We began with implementing the principles of flow, 5S, setup reduction and standardized work. Since then, we consistently been applying the tools of lean to drive continuous improvement. Our team members are involved in setting the goals, objectives and strategies that have made JD Machine a world class manufacturer and are involved at every level to drive improvement.
We believe that lean manufacturing is not a set of tools but a culture that includes process design, visual management, problem solving, leaders as teachers and lessons learned and application. The JDPS system drives our daily behaviors and supports our culture of continuous improvement.
One representation of our culture is the number of implemented ideas by our team members. We have a suggestion system that captures ideas each day that are then reviewed and implemented by the teams. Over the last year we have averaged over eight ideas implemented per person in the company and over two thousand in the last few years. The engagement of our team members is what sets us apart and allows us to be the most competitive and customer value driven company around. Lean principles are the bones and muscle of the body of the JD managements system, with our team members and their commitment and engagement being the lifeblood.
