Recognition Across Three Dimensions
JD Machine has been recognized across 48 years by trade press, industry associations, prime contractors, and workplace surveys. The list below is organized into the three dimensions the recognition tends to fall under: industry recognition from peers and customers, growth recognition from regional business rankings, and workplace recognition from the people who work here.
Each award reflects something the team built. None of them were the goal. They followed from the work.
Industry and Customer Recognition
Modern Machine Shop Top Shop
Modern Machine Shop magazine — A two-time Top Shop honoree. Modern Machine Shop's annual benchmarking survey evaluates precision manufacturers across business strategy, human resources, machining technology, shopfloor practices, and quality. Top Shop recognition reflects operational performance across the full breadth of the shop.
Manufacturer of the Year
Utah Manufacturers Association — The Utah Manufacturers Association's annual recognition of a member company demonstrating leadership in operations, growth, and contribution to the state's manufacturing sector. JD Machine has held the honor as a member of the UMA community.
Subcontractor of the Year
U.S. Small Business Administration — SBA Subcontractor of the Year recognition for performance as a federal subcontractor. The award reflects program execution, quality, and supplier reliability on government and prime contractor work.
Silver Supplier
The Boeing Company — Boeing Silver Supplier status, awarded under Boeing's Performance Excellence Award program for measured supplier performance in quality and delivery. Boeing's supplier scorecard is one of the more rigorous evaluation systems in the aerospace supply chain.
Supplier of the Year
ATK (now Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems) — ATK Supplier of the Year recognition for performance on aerospace and defense programs. The award reflected the same quality, delivery, and partnership criteria that anchor the rest of JD Machine's customer-facing record.
Growth Recognition

Utah's 100 Fastest-Growing Companies (3x)
MountainWest Capital Network — A three-time inductee on Utah's 100, MountainWest Capital Network's annual ranking of the state's fastest-growing companies measured by revenue growth. Three-time recognition reflects sustained growth across multiple business cycles, not a single spike.
Workplace Recognition
Top 50 Workplaces in Utah
The Salt Lake Tribune Top Workplaces program — A Top 50 Workplaces in Utah honoree, based on anonymous employee surveys evaluating leadership, alignment, engagement, and connection. The recognition is given by team members, not by the company. For prospective hires, that's the relevant credential.
DOL-Certified Apprenticeship Program Training Institution
U.S. Department of Labor — JDU, JD Machine's apprenticeship program, is a U.S. Department of Labor Certified Apprenticeship Program Training Institution. The credential places JDU in the federal registered apprenticeship system, with the training standards, mentorship structure, and journey-level credentialing that designation requires.
What the Recognition Reflects
Awards are lagging indicators. They follow the operating model that produced them, which at JD Machine is built on integrated quality systems, lean manufacturing principles in place since 1998, and a multi-generational, family-owned culture that holds team members across decades.
The 99.6% customer quality rating sustained across 48 years is the operating record. The awards on this page are the third-party confirmation.
