What We Hire For
JD Machine has grown from a team of 6 in 1992 to 230+ today, across precision machining, sheet metal fabrication, assembly, testing, quality, engineering, and the office. Role Categories
JDU Apprentice
Structured, paid apprenticeship from no prior experience to journey-level machinist or fabricator through JDU, our U.S. Department of Labor Certified Apprenticeship Program. Classroom instruction, on-the-job training, mentorship, and federally recognized credentialing. The recommended entry point for career changers and young people new to manufacturing.
CNC Machinist (Turning and Milling)
Setup, operation, and run of CNC turning centers and 4- and 5-axis milling cells. Reads prints, holds tight tolerances, and works from CAD/CAM-generated programs engineered offline. Experience levels range from journey-level machinists running complex programs independently to operators building toward journey-level certification through JDU.
Sheet Metal Fabricator and TIG Welder
Sheet metal punching, forming, and TIG welding for thin-gage precision components and assemblies. Works to print, holds form-and-fit specs, and contributes to weldments that move downstream to assembly and testing. Journey-level welders and experienced fabricators are a consistent hiring need.
Assembly Technician
Mechanical assembly of machined and fabricated components into finished, tested assemblies. Works from PFMEA-driven Standard Work Instructions in a dedicated assembly room. Steady, detail-oriented work that closes the loop between machining and shipping.
Quality Inspector
Dimensional inspection, in-process verification, and final inspection of precision components in the temperature- and humidity-controlled quality area. Works to AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 quality systems, with traceability and documentation discipline built into every part record.
CNC Programmer and Manufacturing Engineer
CAD/CAM programming, CNC program simulation, process engineering, and tooling selection. Engineers processes offline so the shop floor runs efficiently and the first part is right. Experience with multi-axis machining and aerospace or defense components is regularly needed.
Office and Administrative
Accounting, purchasing, supply chain, customer service, sales, and administrative roles that support the production floor. Smaller team than the shop side, with the same culture and stability.

JDU is a U.S. Department of Labor Certified Apprenticeship Program. Apprentices earn while they learn, the journey-level certification is federally recognized, and the training connects directly to the work being done on the floor. For young people, career changers, and parents researching career paths for their kids, JDU is the credential to know.
